Vitality Fiber: Feeds YOUR Good Bacteria

What is VITALITY FIBER?

It is a healthy beverage that includes water soluble and insoluble dietary fibers that can be digested by the good bacteria in the intestine.

Consumption of this is important to one's health because is optimizes the function of the friendly bacteria in the gut.  HOW? First, bacteria needs to eat.  It needs to get energy to survive and function well.  Most carbs, proteins and fats we intake get absorbed into the bloodstream before they make it to the large intestine, nothing is left for the gut flora.  Now, fiber steps in --- humans do not have the enzymes to digest fiber and therefore, it reaches our large intestine.  Our intestinal bacteria DO have the enzymes to digest many of these fibers.

DIETARY FIBERS are important for one's health.  They feed the "good" bacteria in the intestine, functioning as PREBIOTICS.  That way, they increase our levels of the "good" bacteria, which can have various positive effects on health.

On Losing Weight:  Fiber can cause weight loss by increasing the feeling of fullness, leading to reduced calorie intake.

On Diabetes: Food that contains fiber have lower glycemic index and cause smaller spikes in blood sugar to compare with low-fiber food.

On Cholesterol:  Fiber blocks the uptake of saturated fat or other harmful types of fat. (source: How Fiber Helps Control Cholesterol )

On Heart Disease: Betty Kovacs, MS, RD advices "the best things that you could do to protect your heart is to follow a high-fiber diet." (source: Fiber For Preventing Heart Disease)

On Constipation: Fiber is claimed to help absorb water, increase the bulk of the stool and speed up movement of stool through the intestine.
